Yes, I think we all know that the V1 & the 8500 are the best radar detectors out there.
Whether one is better than the other - there are 20 other threads online here about that...

I should have been more specific in asking if anyone was interested in selling their 8500 or V1 or if there was a retail chain (store) selling them at a cost less than that I can find on the web (i.e. valentine.com / ebay, etc).

Your best bet is to try ebay. There are a bunch for sale for $235, but not authorized. Like many other 'high-end' electronics, the manufacturer has a tight reign on the price at 'authorized' dealers.
But I found this place . Escort 8500 for $279.99 plust $7.95 shipping.
Other places offer free 2-day fedex shipping at full retail price.

at first i was told to get the V1 and i had my heart set on it. But i got the Passport 8500 over the holiday's and i'm very happy with it. My only complaint is i haven't picked up a Sherriff yet. Granted if only passed 3 on the road in the last few weeks and never got a read out. Guess maybe they just didn't have there radar on.

I'm sure you'll love either.
