FS:WRX's, make your lights flash when you lock/unlock your doors!
I'm selling a module with detailed, easy to follow instructions that will simply make your clearance lights (parking lights) flash for half a second every time you push a button on your factory keyless entry remote!
-No more listening for your doors to lock!
-Can be can be used with or without the horn honk feature!
-It makes you look like you have an alarm!
The instructions are for 02+ wrx's only though I'm working on others.
It works safely with no side effects or dangers to the keyless entry system or the lights. It's constructed in a professional manner and comes with a 30day satisfaction guarantee.

All you have to do is run a wire from the relay that locks and unlocks the door, and run that wire to the parking light switch...basically what you are doing is taking the pulse that goes to the door lock switch in order to lock it and sharing that wire with the parking light switch, right?..ofcourse you will add a relay for this, but it doesn't seem like a $50 job to me....

yes it would, unless a relay is used...I am not very familiar with this type of stuff, but before I wrecked my 535i, I did something very similar...it cost me 10 cents for a little bit of wire and 49 cents for a relay and about 15 minutes of time.

it's only slightly more complicated than that.
To do it without a relay would mean frying your wireing and/or stange things happening like the doors locking or unlocking when you turn on the parking light switch on.
You could do it with two relay, one from the lock and one from the unlock but then they would fight each other and probly wouldn't work.
What I've built consists of a few diodes, a heavy duty auto relay, wires cut to length for a clean install and really expensive wire connectors that are insulated and make for a very easy install.
It took alot of time figuring the wiring diagram to find the propper signal with the right duration that worked upon lock and unlock and didn't send any strange voltages around. It was especially tough because most of the signals (triggers) are negative, but you need a positive signal toi activate the lights. I measured the signal voltage, polarity, and duration on an asciliscope prior to doing anything to make sure this was all safe. it works great!
If you're good with wiring and you have the wrx manual on cd rom that I was giving away for free to people at the meet a couple weeks ago, you could propbly do this yourself and have the same results for less than half what I'm asking.
But for my expense, my time to, solder, shrink wrap, and test, and my time and effort to take pictures and write detailed instructions for these cool little things, I ask for $42 and I'll put it in for you.
For those that aren't familiar with these things it might seem worth it. I'm not trying to rip anyone off... I'm trying to help cause I think that if I couldn't make this myself, I would want one. $42 just makes it worth while to take the time to make a bunch of them... I'm not gonna get rich.

no, it turns out i came to the realization that car alarms are totally and utterly pointless unless they consist of some sort of device which instantly renders the perpetrator unconscious upon contact with the vehicle. and i don't think subaru has that option yet.

I agree
car alarms dont do much more than anoy neigbors... unless you have one that isn't sensitive or only goes off when you open the door... I think a blinky red light on the dash may fend off those thinking of breaking in though... see... the appearance of an alrm is the trick. haha

how many times do the light come on when the door is unlocked/locked? I think $42 is steep considering a factory alarm can be had new for ~125 from the web. Which does the same thing + an alarm.

The factory alarm is only about $140-180 after shipping and all that... But it's still at least THREE times the cost if all you really want is blinky lights.
I think this is plenty reasonable. it's kind of alot of work to make these with all the soldering and shrinkwraping and the time to take my car aprt one one more time to test them and stuff... From a bussiness stand point it's a losing deal if you ask me, I just thought all my I-club friends here would be excited about it. haha
This will blink the lights once for half a second every time you push the lock or unlock button on the remote regardless of weather or not the doors are already locked. This means you can press the button an extra time if you just want an indication or you weren't looking when you locked it. It will still honk the horn three times if there's a door open and can still be used with the horn honk feature, though not wanting the horn to honk was the whole reason I made this in the first place.
And remeber... that's $42 installed for the local guys... that means $42 and zero work... All you have to do is go hang out with a bunch of other subaru owners and eat a donut. Tell you what... I'll be at the UCKK meet this tuesday night and I'll have three with me. I'll also have my car there of coarse so if you want to see how it works... come out and join the fun.
