WRX vs WRX ....what went wrong?

I dunno...even from a stop, the kid in the blue WRX can not drive the car worth ****....his launch was horrible. His whole car just jumped foward chirping, then bogged and the boost dropped, and he still ended up beating the black WRX up around 70mph...

it's probably the wheels. It could be how much the car was warmed up... that makes a huge difference. The weight of the driver makes a HUGE difference as well. If you have a 120lb driver and a 240lb driver... there is no doubt that you will notice the difference.

Also, if the blue car was freshly waxed it would be more slippery and have less aerodynamic resistance at higher speeds. Or maybe the blue car was just trying harder.

Actually, that's not true. Small perturbations in the surface (i.e., dirt) could cause the car to be more aerodynamically "slippery" (i.e., less drag) at high speed, for the same reason that golf ***** have dimples:

So maybe the black car was not dirty enough... as all owners of black cars can attest, regular washing is a heckuva commitment.
