Ive been Thinking wether or not you people would be interested in coming out to modesto on a Friday or Saturday night Cruise on a road called McHenery, It became famouse from the movie Graffiti Nights (this movie was filmed here on location) and Every weekend It is swarmed with people. posts your thoughts, its just an idea. hey hey, i grew up in modesto

i can't seem to find my way back now that i've moved away though. hahaha.

about mchenry....watch out for cops. when i left for college, they were cracking down on cruising; if they see you pass 3x on the street, they will pull you over. there used to be a graffiti night cruise every year -- people used to come to modesto from near and far. it's a thing of the past due to the chaos and violence at the event.

Fatal Velocity, merged your two "Modesto Meet" threads. No need to post the same question multiple times, thanks.

Denied! American Graffiti was filmed entirely in wine country, no mention of Modesto as a set on that website Al. But, that was the first thing I thought I read as well when I read the post about Graffiti Nights.

correct. american graffiti was filmed outside of modesto. george lucas, who went to TDHS, was part of the cruising culture during his youth. he wanted to make a film representative of that culture. we can say that the story, director, and theme originated from modesto.

you'll also find a lucas center in modesto. i remember walking the halls of my HS and seeing lucas' yearbook picture on the wall. that was modesto's claim to fame before the recent wave of scandals and crime cases.

the trick about modesto is that its a lil less central than stockton is, zumnwrx would agree w/ me on that. for me, its an hour to sac for the saturday meets, or an hour to the bay for any of the weekday meets. there's more or less a meet tuesday through saturday weekly. UCKK, Big Dogs, Its A Grind, the Natomas meets, if you want to organize something, you're going to have to bribe everybody with some kind of event. that's the major reason why there's no stockton area meets, there's nothing to do around here, and frankly, some people are just scared of stockton in general

the only thing that i can really think of is Strike Zone in manteca, but that place is just a tad sophmoric.
