Will an STi Oil Pan give me more clearance?

Car runs badly, found broken headers (scraped something).

I need a little more ground clearance - anyone know if an STi oil pan would gain me anything (ie would I be able to use headers that don't hang so low?).

Thanks.

That's not going to help, a simple fix is raise the car so it's not so low. I guessing that was a tuff one to think of?

"tuff"?

I really don't want to raise the car, I do appreciate your sarcasm though.

I'm guessing your car is pretty low to be hitting like that. Why would you want to be so low your car hits Everthing? Just seems much easier to raise the car up some then try to get your car not to bottom out!

Doesn't the DP and catback sit lower than the stock exhaust manifold? What about your splash guard/skidplate? How are these items okay but your manifold is hitting stuff?

Just take the header off. Problem solved.

Have you considered a skidplate to help protect the underside? It may not offer more ground clearance, but might help to prevent damage to items that are hanging that low.

It's not that low, in 7 years, I've hit one object, concrete left in roadway...I don't recall it ever bottoming out.

I didn't realize I could get a functional skid plate for my car - and my car is 2003, which won't fit the above item, but I do appreciate your reply.

Who said anything on my car is stock? haha, just eyeballing it, the headers sit the lowest.

They make them for bugeyes too, you just have to read the site.

So are the headers stock or not?

Lol, it was a simple question. That's what I would do, never heard of this happening. If you would like to see a dick I could show yah, who keeps a car so low they have things getting smashed under the car? He never said it was not slammed untill a further post. I would do something like Stupidchicken did to his car with the under tray. Should fix the problem, next time you think your cool guy on the Internet send me a PM! I never intended to be a dick.......

Okay, I guess my previous post could have been reworded instead of stock manifold to headers.

Anyway, just as the previous poster said, get a skid plate to help protect (which is why I was asking if you had at least the splash guard there) If you look around the site, they do have ones for the '03.

WRX - STi

I personally have a Rally Armor one on my bugeye. Required slight modification so it wouldn't rattle against my oil pan.

02 to 07 Subaru Impreza WRX STI

However, going back to your original question, I don't have the information, but you can email manufacturers of headers to see how far down they drop off the motor. I doubt many members of i-club will know this information, especially of multiple brands of headers, off hand. Good luck.
