Will my RT615's be ok in the snow?

What's up BAIC! My buddies and I are planning a trip to Tahoe sometime in a week or two and I wanted to know if my summer tires will hold up to the freezing conditions? If not I was thinking of getting some cheap all season tires. I was thinking the kuhmo ecsta spt which is fairly cheap. The tires that I have now is the falken Rt615's which have about 11,000 on them. Any suggestions to other all season tires? Also, my car is fairly low and is that going to be an issue? issue meaning snow clearance (lol i know I'm such a newb) reason I ask is because if i'm goin to spend this much money on tires I might as well get a rental. What do ya'll think?

You should be fine unless theres a large storm coming in. Just drive like you have summer tires on...in snow.I took RE050's up there a couple of weeks ago with CALTRANS chain control and they did fine, I also had cables in the trunk just in case. Of course I wouldn't recommend it, so if you have the money to buy A/S tires, go for it.

heckno techno.

Those tires are going to be hard as rocks. Save yourself and your passengers find some A/S.

rt 615's don't handle well in just regular rain...snow would be deadly. but if u keep it superrrr slow, you should be ok

11K on 615's? You either drive like my grandma, or they should be pretty well used up. I would stay far away from anything resembling snow with those.

+1, these types of tires specifically warn you not to drive them in those temperatures. You have to remember people that its not only the tread pattern's ability to grip, but also the rubber compound's hardness.

+1, I don't take my subie to the snow for this reason. I have the same tires and there's such low traction in the rain, I couldn't even think what it would be like in the cold snow.
