I like how people interpret the modified exhaust law. It's like... You aren't allowed to used a modified exhaust such that it isn't in compliance with [section x.x.x].

That second half totally changes what the CVC actually means.

Yeah, but the meter was 50 yards away. The ref puts the meter 18 inches away from the exhaust tip at a 45 degree angle while holding the revs around 3500-4000.

you tell him subsection b of cvc 27151 states that as long as it's under 95dB then it is legal. Tell him to go read the law that he's citing u for.

i think it all depends on the actual smog ref.

I went to the Sequoia school in Fremont, and the dude was busy doing the paperwork while the students were actually testing the car (and obviously the students didn't give a **** about visuals) Some refs will know what's up with ur car, some wont.

General rule for an exhaust is to have the catback in there somewhere. As for the stuff in your engine... paint it black, take off any colored crap or cover it up to make it look like regular plastic and parts.

Make sure no neon colored stuff is poppin' out.

i barely passed at 93.xx dB with the hks hi power. It went past 95 dB for a few seconds then settled around 93.

if u do go to ref, just make sure your car's engine is nice and hot or warmed up. The Hks is sometimes quieter, sometimes louder. So it's borderline for the most part.

anyone know what the db level is for a full catless cobb turbo back? it's not as loud as other friends of mine (hks hi power, magna flow, ti-c), so i want to know if anyone on here has tested a catless cobb tbe. if not i'm gnna go to the ref and find out just so i can have a easier mind on the streets.

i dont know where you guys go test at but when i was getting tested with my gutted oem downpipe with a hks hi power catback, i was at 96Db at 3000rpm. and legal incalifornia is 95+ - 1.5Db. and i believe they are supose to test it at 2500-3000 because most people dont go 4500rpm driving around daily. i usually go up to 3500rpm for daily driving.
