Why were you pulled over?

Please vote in poll, indicating initial reason for being pulled over by police or CHP. While the actual citation might be for multiple violations such as speeding, loud exhaust, not wearing seat belts, etc., I'm only asking for the reason why officers are making the traffic stop in the first place.

Thanks for your feedback.

got pulled over twice for going 90+ mph.

Once was by the CHP. He let me go without question.

Once was by a Sacto County Sheriff. He let me go too.
after we talked for about 10minutes

BTW if you're cool about it you can pretty much do anything around a sheriff because they have far more important things to do than pull someone over for a trafiic violation.

You have to look fairly suspect (like you have a warrant) for them to pull you over. I usually drive past them all the time... i just look at them and give the "sup-nod". i know all this because my ex-brother in-law is a sheriff.

Sheriff's have an entire county to look after.

Police have a small town/city limit area to look after so look out for them because they probably have nothing better to do.

Re: Sheriffs Vs. Police

It's different in some parts of Alameda & CoCo counties, as many PD's contract county sheriffs to be Police Officers, so they are the same.

Must be nice having that "silver pass".
Over the years i've been pulled over for lots of stuff. must have been out of state speeding tickets. including a 92mph in Arizona in a 75 zone. Seconds before the cop saw me i had been doing 120+ for over 3 hours. Lucky me.

got tested at a sorbriety stop in Fairfax on Saturday night while coming home from a wonderful dinner with my wife. After the physical/ballance part of the test i did the breath-o-liezer and past with a .044 i was sweating bullets i whole time. I had never had that happen to me before and it killed a perfect evening.

Which reminds me that I renewed my registration just barely in time but still haven't received my stickers from DMV. Now I really have to avoid attention.
