Who's using the Hawker Genesis Battery?

Hey,

I am looking at using this light battery http://www.portablepower.com/Product...ctNum=37L141S3
but I am a little concerned about the reliability of it. The manufacturer says to use the Odessy instead of the Genesis.

Any comments?

How long has it been in there?

I ordered it yesterday so I shouldn't be so concerned now, but the more I read the more I think about it.

I have the Hawker Odessey. No problems so far. Even when my car was sitting at the body shop for the whole month of January still started up just fine when I came to pick it up. Pic:https://www.i-club.com/forums/attach...chmentid=31730

I think I screwed up -

I followed a thread from another post and ordered a Hawker Genesis (11 lbs, $70) and I should have ordered the Hawker Odyssey (12 lbs, $75)

Rats!

Are you running any additional power amps/ sub woofers? I'm trying to fix my dimming lights on bass notes and my current 3year old stock isn't cutting it.

WOW, the guys at Portable Power were great. I called and asked if they could swap my order for an Odyssey instead of a Genesis - No problem, they ran outside and pulled my order off the UPS truck!!

Thumbs up for great customer service!

I know a second battery is often deployed in response to that symptom, but that could also be an issue relating to grounding.
Think about it; if the amplifier is dumping a whole lot of charge onto the chassis where its grounded and the lights take their ground near that point, unless there is a much lower impedance return to the battery's negative terminal (which in a stock cars may have considerable more resistance than ideal) you will effectively be reducing the voltage the light sees while that charge is being disappated.

A 3 year old stock subaru battery is probably on its last leg, but if you still have dimming light issues with a new one you should go after "grounding mods".
