Who's up for a windshield repair group buy?

Glenspen, mind telling us what brand of glass was used? I tried to call him today and he didn't seem to be in his shop. I will keep trying tomorrow. Thanks.

Great service and a really professional guy... he warned me about an extra $80 if he split the rubber stripping, but he was carefull and didn't need a new one..
my insurance was a $500 deductible, I was quoted between $700-$1200. Thanks for the hookup John.

I went here this past week:
Low Price Auto Glass
Address: 625 Trade Zone Blvd, Milpitas, CA 95035
Phone: (408) 935-9777
$145 OTD for my 03 WRX
Lifetime warranty on labor
The owner told me if your car is not more than 5 yrs old, you'll never need the weather stripping (other shops that say you do are trying to make extra $)

Called "Low Price Auto Glass" but they did not have compatible glass for my 04 wagon. And it costs $900 if they order from dealer. So no go.
Elmer @ "Premier Auto Glass" can do mine for $175 though. He'll come to my work place tomorrow and I will report back on the quality after the work is done.
Like glenspen said, he uses Pilkington glass. From their website:
http://www.pilkington.com/Pilkington...rs/default.htm
They say they are OE supplier for many manufaturers including VW and BMW. So their quality should not be too bad.
UPDATE: Did mine. Thanks for the recommendation!

BUMP
I just called premier auto glass about replacing my 04 wagon's windshield and they said they can only use OEM glass ($740). Seeking recommendations for getting windshields on the cheap for a 2004 WRX wagon
