from my opinion, cingular has best phones, cheap plans (lots of minutes for it's prices) but reception also varies a lot depending on where u are at.
Like zoeb said, cingular/att has reception at his house whereas verizon doesn't, it's exactly the opposite from where i live at, oakland hills.
verizon has best customer satisfaction just as endeavor said, i read the same article from consumer reports.

I'm really happy with my ugraded AT&T plan right now. Its cheaper than the old regular plan (GSM now) PLUS I get to use not only the AT&T network, but the Cingular network as well
So far, ive been able to switch networks whenever one is not doing too good, which so far has about doubled my reception range for everywhere ive been! (IE places like here at home where AT&T has crap for coverage, I can switch to cingular and get like 6 bars, and the same for a couple other places that I'm always at that I had trouble with before... Good stuff)

I have ATT and it totally sucked when I first signed up (last august FWIW) but ever since Cingular bought ATT (or maybe it was the other way around) my reception has increased a good 2 bars (out of 5) which ROCKS, I even get the cingular icon to show up from time to time on my phone when it powers up, I guess their networks are linked up already? .....but hey it's different for everybody depending on service area as well as phone. I am up here in Davis and it works fine and when i go to SF i get FULL reception

AT&T kicks ****, at least here in the North Bay... Before they merged their network with Cingular, reception was just OK (I would occasionally drop calls when I was in my kitchen) but still better than Verizon. Now the signal is MUCH stronger; funny thing is, when I power up my phone in the kitchen it now says Cingular on the display, in all other rooms it says AT&T.
But yeah, I'm digging those 1000 free minutes and unlimited mobile-to-mobile. As far as phones, I've always prefered Nokia, so I'm pretty happy in that department too. I've got one of those phones with a flip-out keypad (not sure which model that is), they were literally giving them away at the time with a $100 mail-in rebate.
