That about hits the nail on the head, the iphone is a pretty slick well marketed fashion statement of a phone hence it's popularity, something else that has aided it's large following to date is also the previous lack of anything that would anywhere near compete with it's feature set and painless use.
Personally for me (I am a smart phone user) my phone has to be a phone first and foremost then I look for all the bells and whistles to help me with my day to day stuff, if as a phone it is lacking then it's of no use to me as everything else if forced I can get done with my laptop/desktop and a pen and paper.
I think the Android based phones will start to eat at more and more of the market as the software and hardware evolves.
Mike <--- has no interest in the Iphone or AT&T.

I was just looking at this article. I didn't realize that they were already taking the Pre-Orders (well....trying to at least ).

Torrenting on 4G. My HTC EVO phone is USB tethered to my 6yr Old Dell Inspiron 1100. Yes, that's 961KB down. It stayed above 780KB most of the time.
It's gonna be a while before you GSM guys get to see speeds like this. Hopefully LTE works well, and you stlll don't have network issues. But looking at the sheer preorder numbers, I'm going to guess that AT&Ts network is going to get even more jacked up.
Oh, and for anyone on the 2GB limit plan and will be paying for tethering... may God give you deep pockets, for your bill shall be ginormous...

What does it do on a basic speed test Gagan? Just wondering I use my Droid tethered to my netbook whenever I am out and about roaming race tracks and such and I just used mine and the downloads are decent at present on Verizon which I know should be slower than your 4G stuff.

3G (about 100kbps download. Haven't tested tethered, could be faster.)
4G (about 400kbps download... but as you can see, I'm hitting twice that easily, so speed test doesn't show true pace.)
How fast does verizon 3g net you?

Exactly, it happens with cars, homes, etc.... as long as you do your research most of the time you won't get burnt.
