Who knows a place to get corner balancing done?

Who knows a place in the bay area that does cross corner balancing with a price sub $200? It will also be helpful if they do alignments but not as important.

Do a search for Roger Kraus Racing in Castro Valley. Lots of happy customers from there.

Yea Roger Kraus is the only place i know of in the bay area that does corner balancing. it's pretty expensive to get it all done though, around $200 i believe for everything.

At $200 a pop, it seems like one of the local shops would buy a set of scales?

Works evo (SF) does it. I was quoted $150 for the balance and about an hours labor at $90 for an alignment.

We have been lagging on getting our set, but since this has reminded me, we should have a set of scales in the near future.

It's not just about weighing the car, there are a lot of steps and procedures to corner weighing a car properly. A good alignment tech is a must, and also having a lot of experience under your belt is key. +12345 for Brandon over there at

That's how much I paid (total $302.50) almost 8 months ago. Brandon performed the work. I'd say he did a good job but great enough for me to return. After the work, the steering wheel was off center slightly and I definitely notice it on freeway driving. When I went back after drivng for about nearly 10 miles on freeway (I wanted to be sure before I go back), Brandon said it was due to the road surface condition after he drove locally for a couple of minutes but I know that wasn't true. I might be a little picky but I am more than 100% sure it was off. Because it was near lunch time and he had to finish another regular alignment job, he did not want to adjust the steering wheel for me. At that time, I was a bit late for my next appointment so I did not force the issue. But I think for $300, I'd like to have the steering wheel perfectly straight.

I went there because I heard a lot good things about them, maybe this is just one isolated incident. It's probably because their scheduler did not give Brandon sufficient time to do the work by scheduling the next appt too close. I recall Brandon was really on a hurry while working on my car.

All of which can be learned. I wasn't implying that four $20 scales from Walmart would do the trick. But you can get a workable set of race scales for under $1000, $1500 if you're bad at math and don't want to figure percentages and all that fun stuff. But then I've known guys that can adjust a car and get it close just by dropping the tire pressure to 6 or 7 psi and seeing how much they squish, so I hear ya on the experience part.

And it seems that I'm not totally out of my mind as LIC is on it

When a shop is setting your corner weights make sure they add weight to the car to account for the weight of the driver and a full tank of gas. Also double check that your tire pressures are set at what you will be running the majority of the time.
