Here's the newspaper article: http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article...ll_1__injure_8

In typical Press Democrat manner they can't get their facts straight, though. It says the fatality was in the white Acura that hit a tree.

that blows, rip.

Hard to say if a blow out could have caused it. If you just slam on the brakes after a tire blows out, it's not the best idea. So that theory is out the window........kinda like hitting the brakes in a fishtail. You can't try and use all the full braking power missing a front tire or you are going to get squirly.

It's rather obvious to me that this kid was driving way too fast in a car he obviously didn't know how to drive.

Unfortunately, it didn't cost him HIS life, it cost the life of an innocent passenger.

From Stony Point Rd. as I was trying to get around the tied up traffic, didn't see details, but know a thing or two about vehicle collisions and what causes them. I know that if he were travelling at the speed limit and a tire blew out, it would not cause him to completely lose control of the car and smack into a tree. I know that stretch of road is almost absolutely perfectly straight, with no real steering input required in order to keep it in your lane.

We had a similar incident last week. High rate of speed versus a guardrail, 5 people in the vehicle. Driver got his number called, the rest were fortunately moderate injuries considering the condition of the vehicle.

I just watched the news and the car is an older white 93-01 Impreza Wagon.

Looked like it had the stock hubcaps on. They also showed that the rescuers had to cut the roof off.

Highly doubt it was modded...

RIP though
