Thumbs up

I go to the Chevron Oil Stop in San Mateo. They do a great job. Very polite technicians. Complete service. They top off all fluids and if you are low on anything after the oil change you have 90 days to get topped off again. Oh yeah....they also give you free drinks...not the alcoholic kind, but the other ones.

MY02-03 do not need to have the skid plate removed to change the oil. If you've seen people taking it off or mofidying their skid plates for those years that was a wasted effort. I change my MY 02 WRX oil all the time w/o never needing to do anything with the skid plate.

Here is the link to the shop I'd recommend for DIY'ers. They have all the tools, the lifts, and everything else you could possibly need. It doesn't cost that much for the peace of mind you get from knowing the job is done right.

+12345 for doing it yourself

although I learned on a corvette and mercedes when I was a little kid...so maybe I have a false sense of confidence

anyways, its easy as hell to do yourself

din't want to start a new thread. sorry for resurrecting

anyway, anyone here in the bay area can give a newbie here a lesson on changing oils on subie? I also want to learn other stuffs too!

I just owned the car for a month. Oil change is not due anytime soon, but I just want to learn how to DIY before the time comes.

I am really interested in learning it and knowing it is done right instead of dropping it off to a shop.

Thanks!

^ Have you ever changed the oil on other cars before? If so, it's pretty much the same.

The reputation of Steven's Creek has really changed in the last few years. I'm not sure about the sales department but the guys in parts and service are pretty cool now and several i-clubbers work there and are really knowledgeable and do good work.

never-ever

Never changed oil before. Bad, i know . That's why I am trying to learn how to do it once, and will be able to do it myself in the future !

The only biggest accomplishment was swapping trunks. haha
