if the car has more than 30k miles, even if they duplicate your chatter concern, you're screwed because they won't change your flywheel.

is your car even under warranty anymore?

my car is an 02 with 26K miles and it was bought in June of 01 so the car is out on the 3/36 but the 5/60 is still there, I just bought the car about a month ago from the orig owner, which flywheel would they put in if they did change it and can I request that?

if you are under something like 30k miles, they are supposed to give you a new, different flywheel along with the updated clutch.

You know its been a while since I dealt with this, since I had this performed on my old WRX, and for my car I got both the updated clutch and flywheel at the same time.

I heard that the original '02 clutches, and possibly the flywheels too, had grooved mating surfaces.

Some members reported that since they brought their vehicles in to have the shudder fixed, that due to being over 30k miles, that the flywheel wasn't replaced.

I was told that the new flywheel was heavier, and for sure the new clutch has lighter spring, and so I figured that the old flywheel and the new clutch would be better, but I haven't heard much feedback to form an opinion on that.

Some have said that they still experienced the clutch shudder after having the new parts installed, but I haven't followed whether it was those that had both the clutch and flywheel replaced, or just the clutch.

like I said, I never saw enough data to conclude which combination of parts is better.

you should do some heavy searching here on this subject, you'll be able to dig up a good amount of threads on it.
