well at least with carbs you can usually find carbs used for less than half the price of ITBs and you wouldnt have to worry so much about engine management.
Honestly, unless you have a straight race car that you want to run a big cam, high compression and race gas, and dont really care about street drivability and mileage, ITBs are about the worst return on the dollar you can spend performance wise for a street car.
For the cost of a ITB set and whatever engine management and tuning you will need to run it, you can get a well sorted turbo setup for most cars, especially hondas and VWs, that typically give around an extra 50% more power. An ITB setup, unless you plan to run a crazy cam, higher compression and higher octane will give you probably 10% more power tops. And if your just doing it because it looks and sounds cool well then your just a ricer

about 5 years ago we put a Greddy bolt on turbo kit on my buddys RSX, cost him $2500. Only other mod was a 2 1/2 exhaust and the thing put down 270whp, about 100whp over stock, and it was a kick in the ***! Drove it with no probs for over 30K untill he put it back to stock and traded it in on an EVO.
If you spend that same kind of money on a set of ITBs and engine management you'd be lucky to get an extra 10-15whp, and they would all be top-end and you would lose low end tourqe which already sucks on a NA 4 banger
