Where did you go for 15K Tuneup?
Hey guys, just wanted to know where you all went for a 15K tune up... or if you even did.
I'm trying to decide where to go.
I'm thinking about FLI or, if I get lazy, the Carlsen Subaru.

charlie,
Call up Alan Rice Automotive in Capitola/Santa Cruz, CA next to winchester auto parts.
He helped Subaru of Santa Cruz get going when they first opened up the service department. Instead of working there he started his own business. Just give him the itemized list of things to change/check. Anything that is replaced he will get from the SC dealership(e.g. airfilter, oil filter, etc...).
My WRX 15K cost me $130 there, and Alan is an awesome guy too.

is it really essential for tune up, cuz i got a 45k tune up notice, especially if you change your own oil and pretty much take very good care of your car...i dont want to have to shell out tons of money for something that doesnt really have to be done...

The 45k is a lot more than an oil change. I believe there are some other fluids you should be changing on top of it, like coolant flushed and replaced. Also, check your tranny and rear diff fluid level and color. Also, check your brakes. Might want to replace the brake fluid. Don't forget to grease all your door hinges and latches so they don't develop mysterious squeeks.

Well, I do have a check up list and it's quite lengthy. It is a lot of checks - I could check it myself since I know where the drain plugs are on my car... but I don't know _what_ I'm looking for is the problem.
Secondly, they have all the tools there and they have all the lubricants for the weather stripping etc (I thought about doing it myself via Mother's Back To Black) but I realized, what for, it might be a different lubricant. On top of it all, I would also have to buy all the parts, which would be roughly half the cost of $130.
With that said, I'm probably going to go to McDrama's friend, Alan. Thanks man! I will give him a call first thing Friday morning .
