Where in the Bay Area can I go to try on and/or buy a helmet?

Hi all.

A friend and I were talking about helmets, and we were wondering what we should look for when shopping for a helmet.

I am not really in the market for a helmet at the moment, but might invest one in the future.

Where in the Bay Area can I go to try on and/or buy a helmet?

TIA.

look at the rating. (make sure its up to date) and think about what events you'll be doing. Some racing organizations only require motorcycle helmets while others require automobile ones

Nah... I put that there myself. Zoeb said last month, I started 24 threads or something. This is my way of keeping count.

Dont skimp on a helmet my friend. Spend the money and get a good one.

It is important that you get a helmet that fits your head - of course I know, but you will find out that every brand has a different fit, and all our heads are a different shape.

I cant stress it enough...try on as many helmets as possible before buying. Go with the one that fits the best. Your head should be snug in it, and remember that with use, your head will wear in like a foot wears into a shoe.

Think about what types of racing you will be doing with it. It is my understanding that motorcycle helmets are rated differently than auto racing helmets.

You will notice models with areodynamic features which are for open air cars

I went with a Bell Dominator. At the time, it was the best fitting helmet with anti-buffeting and downforce which I needed in an openwheel car.

I guess tomorrow, I'll just have to catch up by posting a few useless threads. I try to post something useless. The next few things will be things like... how do you make my car go faster. Haha.

Not really. I try to keep an open mind. Besides... I think it is a beneficial thread.

Which reminds me... do you have any gunmetal wheel paint? I curb rashed my wheels in Oakland. Would like to cover it up.
