Exclamation

On a 7.5, no bigger 235. On my 05 with 8.0 245/45/17 it was ok, but I wouldn't go any bigger.

Thanks guys everyone has been a lot of help. theres just one more thing that im confused about. i was looking at the recomended rim width and it says that 245/45/17 will fit a 7.5" wide rim but 235/40/17 recomends that it be put on a 8" wide rim. why is it that the 235/40 fits an 8" but not a 7.5"? also i was thinking of getting some yokohama advan neova ad07's. do you guys think that this tire would be strong enough to go as wide as 245 or should i just be safe and stick with 235.

I really would stick with 235 on a 7.5" wide

However, go with 235/45, not 235/40, that would prob be too small outer diameter wise. You should be looking at 235/45 or 245/40

Like i said, I have a sweet set of 235/45/17 advan A046s for sale (stock evo tires), they are actualy a little bit stickier than the neovas (damn near R-compounds) and retail for 263/each on tirerack

$500 for the whole set, 7/32s tread remaining

The AD07's are outstanding... but very expensive. They are arguably *the* top tire for Street Touring class in autocross. If it's just your daily driver, 235's would be the best fit for the rims, but if you autocross and you want to max out your tire width for STU there are folks that run 245's on the 7.5, and do well (even though it's less than ideal).

245's will bulge out and if you're talking about autocross it will only flex more and it might not even be any better than running 235 with less sidewall roll.

Like I said, it's not ideal... 245's are no doubt better on 8 or 8.5 inch rim... BUT, there are a couple national-level drivers who ran them on their 04 STi with stock rims and WON. So they're not TOO squishy.
