What's with the ugly dark wheels?

What's with the ugly dark wheels?

(i.e. gunmetal, bronze, black, brown, purple)

Ya so I'm gonna get reamed for this but why the hell does everyone love the dark dirty looking wheels!?!

Is it just because everyone wishes they had a type R integra?

I think it's a terrible look...on any color car. Looks ghetto to me.
From a distance it looks like a car missing it's hubcaps. Up close, it looks like you soaked your wheels in layers of filthy brake dust. What is the deal?

I haven't checked, but I'd guess anyone who would want these would be one of those people who go around wearing baggy pants with their underwear showing.

(edit- truly don't mean anny offense...just thought I'd post this to get even with Gold wheel haters )

Do you have a pic of what you're talking about? I haven't seen any modified cars with "dirty wheels." I know the idea behind the stock wheels without hubcaps though, but that's not what you're talking about right?

What the heck does dark colored wheels have to do with baggy pants? i have gunmetal wheels and i dont fit into that profile? I think gunmetal or dark colored wheels look much better than the plain 'ol silver on certain color cars. it depends on the color of the car i guess. i went from silver to gold to gunmetal. i'm stuck on gunmetal because i think its more subtle than gold.

LMAO, I was preparing the Flame thrower before I read this part of your post.....

BTW I have black rims.....I dont wear baggy pants (I wear comfy pants) and my chonies definitely are not showing. I just didnt want rims that everyone and their mother has (gold, bronze) already. So I bought Black ones because they are different, plus they go with the color theme of my car (Black/Silver) alot better than gold/bronze.

what's with the posts about gold & dark rims? hahah.

though i wouldn't go for the gunmetal or gold look, i think it's perfectly acceptable. if you like sublety, go for silver. the dark/gold look is obviously an inspired look.

what about the popular le37t's and ssr competitions with the dark spokes and polished lip? that would be ghetto on ghetto, according to a few of your comments.

to each his own...

Stock still looks nice to me since I have a silver sedan anyway.

This thread is... ummm... HellaDumb.

I've got to agree with hokusai, it's more subtle looking. They are attractive without calling all sorts of attention to them.

I do wear baggy pants just for the record, but my boxers are always covered by them.
