Whats with salvaged used imprezas and russian-ites?
Every time i see a good deal on a used Impreza in the Sac bee (today theres a 93 wagon for $600) it ends up being some sort of middle eastern slovic/russian decent person (i dont know the technical terms sorry ) and the car always has a salvaged title...
I actually called and checked out a salvaged 2001 RS like 2 years ago, and it was some ukranian guy who got it "from a friend who rebuilds cars" and when I test drove it it made all sorts of sounds it shouldnt make.. Of course I didnt get it, and ever since ive called several imprezas in the paper that pop up from time to time and its starting to scare me...
Anyone know whats going on?

Haha ... as it turns out I just went to look at a used OBS, and it turned out to be a guy matching your description too. During the test drive he was going on and on about how stupid Americans were to go into Iraq and how gas prices were going to go up and so on.
Maybe it's the Imprezer influence.

I drive salvaged wrx which was wrecked by me and fixed by guys in sacramento. When you check the price for wrecked wrx on auctions and add the cost to fix it you'll see that it's much cheaper than buying used. Auction price 5-6k with good engine. if you buy two hit in opposite sides and have tools to fix it for cheap, salvage cars start to make sense.
btw, I'm not selling mine.
Oh yeah, and I'm a russian too.

the worst part is they rarely list that they are salvaged. after spending countless hours trying to find a decent buy in sac for a used impreza, i ended up bailing on the idea (al the while cursing under my breath at the myriad chop shops in our city)

It was listed as salvaged this time... but ya, the other time i went through this we didnt find out it was salvaged til we saw the title.
I ended up getting my used impreza at a dealer. If I did it again, i'd probably get one from Barsotti's or the recycler yard.
