Hm, Berkeley, huh? I never thought anything good would come out of that cesspool of a city.

Well, I am going to visit my gf's family this Christmas in NJ, and I told her that all I want to do is eat my way around NJ, NYC, and Philadelphia. Specifically, NJ's diners, NYC's pizza, hotdogs, and other street food, and Philly's cheesesteaks. I do know from what I've seen on Food Network that "authentic" cheesesteaks only have meet and cheese-whiz. While I haven't eaten any cheese-whiz since I was a kid, I'll probably give it a shot. Jersey Joes can make 'em that way too.

OH SO TOTALLY. I am there at least a few times a week, not just for the cheesesteaks but because they have Devil's Canyon brews on tap...

Have to say, I have spent a good amount of time in Philly and Jersey Joe's is the closest to "authentic" in my book. That and "Steven's" in Sunnyvale. Never been to the one in Berkeley and I am sure some "natives" of Philly might disagree since the places I went might not have been the best there haha..

Today I had: BBQ Chicken and rice, 1x manapua, 1x musubi and some haupia for desert.

Yup, it's basically meat and a couple slices of white American cheese... I add onions and sometimes mushrooms. Sometimes a combo steak is the winner.

Have you tried their habanero beer? It's different - I kinda liked it. I would've gotten a pint too if I didn't like my cheesesteak so damn spicy. Spicy food + spicy drink = soupy poopy...I think.
