Bad timing if you want the Canon SD850 IS. Office Depot had them last week for $240. A friend of mine bought it and got a free Epson all in one for free after rebate. The SD850 IS is pretty awesome, face recognition, image stabilization, etc, etc.

I don't like the Sony's b/c if you compare image quality and color, it's not as good as the Canon SD's in my mind. Also, the Canon SD1000 sucks. It can sometimes be bought for ~$150 if you wait for it to go on sale from Dell but the user interface on that camera sucks and it's a low frills camera.

End of story. Awesome bang for the buck performance. I got mine at Ritz/Wolfe Camera when it first came out, but buydig.com has it for $259

Don't know if there's a Microcenter around you, but they have it listed at $299

If you can somehow score one of those Circuit City "$40 off of a $199 purchase or more" coupons, you can take $40 off of the $299 price and that's probably as good as it gets for now from a Brick and mortar store. Costco has it on their website for $299 with a free 2GB SD card. Dunno if it's available in their stores though. Good luck!

Cool, then sounds like your choice is simple. Costco is one of the few places you can Buy and Try w/o a penalty.

id really suggest looking for a canon with IS. if i had to buy a camera over it would have that. the handheld IS systems are incredible now. my friend had one and he was getting all sorts of shots that i was struggling with in low light.
