I figure I'd just narrow down the info and see what you other locals use, since I rarely ever take my car that far out yonder anymore.

Thanks in advance,

Btw, my '02 bugeye has 30k miles, and I've been running Redline 75-90 since 15k. It felt good at first, but then got pretty notchy, so I was thinking of going back to regular, non-syn fluid or maybe trying some Motul.
Swepco 80w-90

You can get the service from LIC

or you can buy it from www.lubrify.com

Nothing like it, nothing even comes close. Take it from "old timers" like LIC and myself. Adam from LIC told me about it, and ever since I put that stuff in my car, it's magically cured all grinding, funky shifting through gear gates, everything.

I recommended it to an Evo chick who's got grinding on her Evo (common) and has had to go through an expensive rebuild, which never solved her issue. She's tried ALL the forum bull**** cocktails and redline crap, nothing worked. I told her to get swepco, and problem solved.

210/212 are listed as multi-grade, but they're 80w-140.
Is 201/203 the 80w-90?

I used NEO when I had my STi. Had no issues, and neither does the current owner.

Pricey though.

Totally agree

My 2002, 170K mile, WRX's gear box was grinding like crazy. Got the full treatment from LIC. They filled her up with Swepco and now it's smooth as silk. I'll be going back to them when I hit 200K.

never heard of that Swepco stuff, but maybe I'll look into it if I keep my car long enough for another tranny+diff fluid change. i don't have any probs right now and don't track or abuse my ride. as mentioned, I rarely drive it at all, so I think I'll be fine putting in some OEM Extra-S for a while.

appreciate all the feedback tho. I'm sure the other WRX guys checking in do too.

I can also recommend the Swepco, I was having some grinding issues but the Swepco change at LIC ended all that...great fluid.

hmmmmmmm swepco stuff looks interesting ... maybe i will use that when i need to get my tranny+diff fluid change .. in like 3000 miles or so I am assuming. Sometimes my tranny makes that griding noise from neutral to 1st gear. hoping that would be resolved
