my car with 126000 miles looks like crap

my only advice-

don't get a black car.

but yeah the meguires is good stuff.

I'm also in the process of restoring an old Audi 4000, where the clearcoat is peeling up.

so its like this:

1) scrape old clearcoat off with plexiglass scraper- rips the crap right off but doesn't get into the color coat.

2) wet sand with 600 to take off oxidized layer under crappy clearcoat

3) wet sand with 1500 to take out scratches from 600

4) wet sand with 2000 to finish up whats left of the color coat

5) polish with rubbing compound

6) wax or polyurethane final polish.

Actually whats left after all that looks pretty darn good!

but for a nice new finish, what these guys suggest should do you fine, try not to scrub through the clear, but despite its inherent weakness, Suby paint can be kept looking pretty good provided you give it regular care

whatever you do-

DON'T LET BIRD CRAP SIT ON IT THOUGH!!!!!!

forget the waxing and just get the Mothers Instant shine Spray, Meguiars has one also , i forgot the name. Its a spray u just spray and just wipe with a terry cloth after you wash the car. Takes the swirls off and shines like crazy....

Get a bottle of Meguires NXT (purple bottle, green lid). Get a microfiber polishing cloth (these make the buffing so much easier).

Read directions on the bottle. Do that. Enjoy the shine
