^^

Highway 9 on the Saratoga side isn't bad with CHP but with the SCC Sheriffs. Biggest bunch of *******s with nothing to do.

Well, to be fair we should mention that the road with the long-*** hyphenated name, which shall remain nameless, is nowadays heavily CHP-patrolled on the weekends, so proceed at your own risk.

Also, for anyone curious but unfamiliar with the North Bay roads, I'd like to mention that most cattle around those parts is free range, i.e. not fenced in. Hint: if you see cattle guards in the road, expect cattle in the road as well. Don't go flying around blind corners like Colin McRae, because hitting cows is serious business... and not just for the cow. Another thing... some roads are narrow enough that you might think they're one way only. Hint: they're not. Other than that, enjoy.

Thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead to mention I finally got around to doing this drive again. It has probably been 3 years since the last time, but it's still a great drive.

FWIW, Topaz Lodge in Nevada has a Tesla Supercharger.

9 and Skyline are nice.

Calaveras road is pretty fun as are the roads around Uvas reservoir.

Months ago, I was about to head out to Calaveras Road for old times' sake, but Google Maps said it would be closed the rest of the year. Apparently that storm system we had earlier in the year broke the road.

The old entrance at Piedmont was closed but you could take the back road up by the golf course. However last time I went up the rest of the road was also restricted to residents only due to other damage further up.

Mt. Tamalpais to the camping grounds at the peak was a fun drive in the STi. Was up there letting the brakes cool off and saw 2 Porsche GT3s going at it.

Randomly went on it after driving from the oyster place and missed Stinson Beach.

Uvas to Mt. Madonna was my motorcycle route that I rode almost every day years ago.

9/84 La Honda/Skyline was fun but its too crowded and a high LEO presence.

Pescadero road has been repaved and is pretty decent now. It was pretty bad for a while. Less cars than 84 to the coast. 9/35/84 on the weekends anyday with decent weather sucks now.

Seems like the construction has been extended to September 2018. That'll make it over 2 years of construction.
