What should my boost gauge read at idle?

What should my boost gauge read at idle?

Mine read's -.08 mpa at idle. Is this bad?

Nope. Sounds perfect.

I believe it should read between -0.06 and -0.08.

WTF? Really? So my car is actually okay if it's idling at -9 psi at idle? In other words, -0.06 mpa-ish?

Hmmm, mine's in mpa (which means what I wonder?). I wonder what that translates to in psi?

0.05MPa (mega-pascals, or 10^6 pascals) = 7.25psi


Your car is an air pump, it needs to suck air to live. The only reason it ever goes positive is the turbo.

Not to doubt you mexicanpizza (it is in fact my favorite T'Bell entree) but I'm

I had an exhaust leak. Was idling in the negative. Blew out a gasket. Took it apart. Put it back together. Was still idling in negative but hits full boost under WOT. I thought I was going to have to tear everything out again (when I get my car back from bodyshop) even though it sounds and feels fine. So negative idle is okay.... phew.
