I just can't decide what to do. The car has under 18k on it orig miles. It has some nice choice mods like ohlins, x brace, every other nice chassis brace, cf driveshaft, a nice ewg kit, the pink control arms lateral links etc...jpm coachworks wheel etc. It's really just been being stored due to health issues the past years.

Should I try and return it to stock and sell some of these parts off or should I try and sell as is non op (doesn't require smog) or out of state? I am basically stuck and overwhelmed here. I can't figure out what makes the most sense and make a choice. Any thoughts / advice are welcome.

Sounds nice, my son's car just got totaled and he'll be looking for a replacement. What does it need to be smoggable? How bad is it? I think a lot of people are going to hit that same wall in the next 2 years. Son's was pretty bad, TGV del, rewired custom pump & fuel system, e85, turbo, injectors, etc... 18K is NUTS! Even my 2011 sedan has 37K.

Well to be smogable I guess stock uppipe and injectors and turbo, also has the changed maf location and a fat ic but I'm not sure if those would really keep it from passing emissions. I assume other than that it could run on a stock map to pass. I thought about listing as a non op on bat but they said they probably wouldn't accept it as non op. I'm still searching for a smog but don't think it will happen. Struggling to make a decision on whats the best course of action here. I guess I could try listing on ebay

It will pass with a STI uppipe, but not others. IC could be an issue now, depending on the place. My buddy was failed for a STI TIMC with an OEM BPV on my old FXT which had passed with it on there for years, despite it being an OEM part. He went to a different shop and they didn't question it.

Depending on the place... if it's not an STi, it might fail with an STi UP... I had a tech almost fail the sti due to not cat in the UP.. I told him that was factory.. He was like "well look here it shows one" - "yeah, thats a wrx motor, not an STi" and then his supervisor told him to just pass me lol.

Hey guys! Spent 5 days in the ICU for Covid Pneumonia and survived it. I am a new man now and I am working on becoming a Pastor or Positive Social Influencer. That is all for now, God is good!

Did this thread die? I just came back here after I don't know how many years to get some recommendations on shops in the South Bay. Nothing fancy, just for regular service/brake work on an ancient stock Forester.

Not a lot of activity here still. People pop in. Shops are the usual suspects, just depends on what you need. RBMS in Hayward, Mann Engineering in Santa Clara, AHQ in Mountain View. Garage One in SJ is good for general maint.
