What do you think about a fingerprint scan when being pulled over?

I just read in the news that local police are doing finger print scans on traffic stops. I really do not like this. This is one step closer to the Hollywood movie films that end up with a evil dic-k-tator running the world.

So what are your views? Do you think this could hurt your rights?

Story
A sheriff's deputy stopped Santa Rosa resident Silviano Maldoragon, 25, at about 3:55 p.m. near Mountain View Avenue and Snyder Lane for a traffic violation, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department.

In the course of the traffic stop a fingerprint scan was conducted and found that Maldoragon had as many as 12 aliases but no valid driver's license. He was arrested for being an unlicensed driver, according to the sheriff's department.

If i didnt have my ID maybe then it would be ok woudl save a lot of trouble.

the machines might cost a bit but ultimately if you can get sited out instead of getting booke dfor somethign that would actually save money cuz i think it cost the city or state (not sure which, pry depends on agency) like $500 to book someone.

so if they could sight you/someone out instead of booking that might be ok.

the only reason it could be beneificial is if i forgot ID

the only thing with that is you would have to be in the DOJ system for them to have record of you anyway

i used to work for a school district so they would have me in the system already, but someone else they didnt have on file what good would it do

it wont let me edit my first post... it keeps goign back to the original when i hit save

Would have been sweet that time I got held at Carnagie for over an hour at closing time. Cop was convinced I had a warrant out because I didn't have my wallet. We had run out there for a quick hour of dirtbiking. Also my friend had registered his bike and the dmv messed up 1 digit, so eventually they figured out the issue and let us go. He was sketched tho, seemed like he was ready to draw his weapon or something.

Eh, not my cup of tea, but it does have some redeeming factors to it.

I bet a lot more crimes would/could be linked if there were a fingerprint database from the DMV. But, I'm sure it can be equally misused and abused.

I agree, I don't trust our current government, local or federal. I would never vote pro on a law like this.

But, to say that if used properly there are no positives to something like this is highly debatable.

nothing wrong w that IMO ive got nothing to hide besides previous speeding violations that they wouldve found out about otherwise via teh computer.

I give CHP the utmost respect, as i dont have the ***** to walk up to random cars at night and risk being shot at to protect the majority

Edit: well yeah obviously it is moneys that Ahnold shouoldnt be spending

A finger scan will do nothing to stop that. You would need a finger scan to start the car to do that.
