What causes a transmission to grind after warming up?
My friend's volvo (automatic) grinds after 10 minutes of driving, so I'm thinking something's happening when the car warms up. Maybe it could be something as simple as low fluid?
I'm sure he should take it into a mechanic, but wondering if there could be anything simple.

Usually when an auto trans is low on fluid it will slip, or delay entering first gear from a stop, not grind. I would flush the fluid and replace the filter.
