What bolts to use between 3" flat flange dp/catback

Do I use the spring bolts or do I have to go out and buy some different ones. I'm trying to mate a 3" helix dp to a 3" catback. If I need to buy new ones, what type do I know to get without physically taking one off my car and bringing it in to the store? Advice anyone?

TIA

oh and edit: Any advice right off the bat that I should know about or tools I might overlook doing this install?

The stock spring bolts aren't gonna work, just pick up a pair of 2 inch long 3/8'' dia hex bolts and some nuts, washers and lock washers for them. And you'll just need the right size wrenches for the new bolts you get, a 2-bolt 3'' gasket, and I'd get a new turbo to dp gasket as well. The stock spring bolt head is 14mm and the nut is a 12mm and the nuts at the turbo are 14mm also btw. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Good luck with it!

Stock ones won't work, cuz they're too short. Go to a hardware store and pick up some longer bolts and nuts as stated above

I would suggest metal ones, Zip ties just arn't going to work, and duct tape will melt.

that heat shield was a PITA! I pulled off 7 bolts and it came off. Is there some hidden transmission bolt that won't let the dp off if I don't get to it right now or was that only for the forester DIY?

^^yeah, there's one bolted into the trans that has to come out also, it's a 14mm. You'll see a flat metal tab coming off the dp bolting it to the trans.

OK HOLY CRAP, don't ever try and do that with the wrong tools. In the end everything is mated and it sounds/performs great, but I think I need to tighten the turbo/dp bolts. I'm hearing a slight hiss around 2000rpm no other rpm though. Hope its not a leak.

In the morning, pop your head under the car and take a look at the joint at the DP and catback...if you are getting a leak, it's usually there, especially since you are using a Helix DP. If it is, try to re-align, and re tighten...it helps to have someone at the back of the car to push/pull on the catback to get a good alingment. That's the first thing to check, after that, check the DP to turbo...( I assume you used the new gasket) But it is harder to check, since there is usually a heat shield involved...if all looks good on both ends, and you still get a hiss...check the connections from your Y pipe to the turbo, and the IC to throttle body. Since you did remove the IC to get at the stock DP and heatshield. I hope that helps.
Oh....and you should be able to see some carbon build up on the out side of the DP CB mating, that will tell you the leak is at that junction. And I am currently using the spring loaded bolts on my Titek to SPT catback, you have to compress the hell out of them, but they do work, even when you have a 1/4 flange on both sides.

^very informative thanks.
Yes, I used all new gaskets, and at the moment I just used some random 14mm bolts and lock washers on the dp/catback flange. Surprisingly I didn't take off the IC lol that why it was a PITA.

It sounds, if anything, like the noise is coming from the turbo. I don't know if i'm hearing the turbo spool up more or a leak. It does have a faint 'sputter' type quality to it, so idk. I will recheck and retighted all bolts tomorrow morning as I drove around alot tonight.

But wow, world of difference powerwise, I love it. And it sounds mean. The hiflow cat and the silencer on the SRS keeps the noise level down but it does give off a super deep tone. I wouldn't say it is louder than what I had before (silenced SRS stock DP), but it is just deeper. We will see how the leo's like it :/
