theas are the back roads of the back roads.but there north of jenner.

But alas, after waiting an hour plus for the tow truck, and the WET and long drive home....well, I am home lol.

Hey folks - had a great time but couldn't do that every day. I'm wiped.

Great action shot on Skaggs. Love the fogs on the bugeyes.

Jagstyle - glad to see the damage wasn't too bad. Props to Cody with the towage hookup.

Also.. the STi bugeye wagon conversion is now my dream car.

It's rather easy.

Take out a road map (yes, the low tech paper one from AAA), look for the squiggly lines...the more crooked, the better. Run a few of those roads (with the map in the car so you don't get lost), then see how the roads connect.

Either that, or you can make time to come out to the meet and drive events. You could also simply join the North Bay SUBARUS society:

Society for
Undertravelled
Backroads
And
Rural
Unfettered
Speeding

Thanks again to everyone for coming out and to Roo for heading this effort. I wish I knew the roads better so I could do a better job leading.... next time we need some full out route instructions... maybe rally notes?

Ft. Ross Rd. is one of my perennial favorites too... Last year Roo and I were out there with Paul Eklund (pro-rally driver, owner of Primitive Enterprises), scouting the roads for the Forester/Legacy meet. We took turns driving, and on Ft. Ross Rd. I took the wheel, Paul in the passenger seat, Roo in the backseat. According to Roo the grass on the canyon wall was brushing the side of my car, and I had the Forester airborne before each turn, only to touch down in time to gain enough traction to rotate the car into the corner. By the time we got to the end of the road my brakes were smoking, Paul finally released his death grip on the oh **** handle, and we had to take a 10 minute break because he was green in the face... So much fun!

Yea that road is just about perfect IMO.... rates right up there with Petaluma-Marshall Rd for the scare-the-crap-out-of-your-passenger factor

Of course some people will call us for enjoying such bumpy roads. I always tell them its like skiing... you start with the smooth groomed runs and then move your way up to the technical bumpy goodness
