remember when we used to have money??? My 1st year with the registration being reduced was the 1st year I had my RS.
I originally paid $415 for reg. then I got back, I think, $300 or so from the state. For my Sentra, I paid only $115.
Goodbye to good times.

my dad is one of those people that has always followed the politcal non-sence that goes on in the country. he was saying something about a petition going around to overthrow davis now and have another vote for a new gov. im not sure of all the details, or if that was actually happeneing, but boy, if that happened im sure all of the i-clubbers would sign it.
cheers,
aaron

Davis is, and will always be, a dillhole. The jerk went to UCLA at a time when UC's cost a maximum for fifty dollars a semester - and yet education is nearly always his first source of revenue when more money needs to be pulled from somewhere.
My biggest question is this. Why on this earth did the state governement assume that income would consistently exceed budgetary expenditures indefinitely?? And more to the point, why can't the "spend it while we've got it" mentality be yanked out of the system?

hey Davis might not have done the best job in office but do you think if it was someone else there wouldnt be a 38 billion dollar deficet? Seriously even if Jesus was the governor of California he couldnt get us out of this bad economic situation. A lot of people are feeling it especially the community colleges. Thjey are cutting 29% from community colleges that mean my school district will have to cut 1500 classes. That really sucks because it means i wont finish sooner and damn i need to finish soon. I guess im one of the few that would rather have Davis in office than Simon.

hey, heres an idea!!
Instead of Bush giving BILLIONS!!! yes, billions of dollars to other countries so they back us in the war why not oh ummm USE THAT MONEY HERE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY???? Give CA a billion and then we're all good.

I read this somewhere recently and I don't recall the exact #s, but needless to say, the reason CA has gone from a RECORD budget surplus just two years ago to a RECORD budget deficit today is largely because the state income is based on heavy taxes on the more affluent people. The numbers were something like 75% of state revenue being generated by just 10-15% of the population. Now, any plain idiot can see that when those 10-15% of people don't make as much money, it has a SIGNIFICANT impact on the overall state revenue. Remember, most of these people were making all kinds of money in the stock market a few years ago and that has all but dried up leaving the state with little if any money.
Of course, the DemocRATs saw the surplus as a ticket to implement hundreds of new programs and had the money spent faster than you could say WTF. Throw on top of this an energy fiasco and you have the recipe for the pains which we are all feeling or about to feel in our pocketbooks AGAIN.
I'm with all of you. Davis is an absolute TOOL. Unfortunately, there aren't many people out there in positions of power who aren't.

Yeah, I have been studying the State of California budget as part of my last semester social work grad studies. Higher vehicle registrations. There are huge cuts in education a friend who taught music at a jr College lost his job as they cut the entire of the music department. There are of course big cuts in social services in regards to medical stuff for the needy as well. Child care money is being cut. Cigarette tax will go up. The only thing that is not seeing cuts is prisons.
You can bag on Davis and you would be partially correct, but the lack of money coming in is a reflection of the larger national situation.
I got a bill for $117 dolllars for sac state to make up for what they require as a result of this squeeze.
