Dont bet on it. Most of the recent LIDAR guns emit a PCM chirp as part of the laser emission sequence, so when an active jammer like this responds without the chirp, that response is ignored, and the chirped response is used for the distance calculation..

Why dont the jammers listen for and emit the same chirp? They could, but it wouldn't help. By the time the electronics on the jammer unit had determined the chirp frequency shift and duration, encoded that into the pulse modulation for the emitter, and started the pulse, the original, legitimate return pulse would have already travelled back to the gun - it IS going the speed of light and all

Oh, besides the fact that laser jammers are illegal to operate in the state of CA:

28150. (a) No vehicle shall be equipped with any device that is designed for, or is capable of, jamming, scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering with radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.

As if doing things the legal way, has always been the top of my list. IMO there's a reason they made them illegal.

yup, and getting caught with a jamming device = obstruction of justice.

Yup - to punish the inconsiderate members of the public who attempt to duck out of responsibility for their ill-considered actions.
