Well. You can always visit leguna seca. That's not near sf, per se, but that falls under the auspices of car-stuff...

on the other hand, you can load gran tourismo, and do the same thing so... =x

Best thing you could do is get a rental and tour SF. The city really isn't that big at all. As for bar's one of my favorite spots is called Wish on 1539 Folsom.

Any car-stuff like museums, races, etc?
I'm assuming it'll most likely be cold and rainy in Jan. so hiking/outdoor stuff won't be too fun but is there tourist-y stuff that's worth seeing?
I will have a rental car.

well if you are a geek, you can check out some of the birthplaces of the "silicon valley"...

for example, the house/garage of hewlett (and packard of HP fame) is now a national landmark.

visit "one infinite loop" at apple...

you can try to oogle "google" as much as you want in mountain view.

check the TECH MUSEUM in san jose.

or fondle the 3 (or is it 4) world series trophies of the oakland a's (a few years ago, i had to get refunds on an a's playoff tix and i had to visit their front office. sure enough, the trophies were sitting in plain view behind a counter and i asked if i can get a closer view... lol)

visit the only car manu plant in the western US...

go hangout with some hippies at bezerkley...

The plant is called NUMMI in Fremont. They make the Toyota Tacoma and some GM cheapo cars as well.

We're leaving this Sunday and I'll be there the whole week. I'll check this place out. Is this where you have to put your own name on the seating list?
