ive been thinking about wrapping my car for awhile now, and i know there are a bunch of other locals who are wanting the same. i was thinking as a community we could get together and do a wrap day. im guessing with 5-7 people we should be able to wrap an entire car or atleast 90% in a day. maybe have the members who has a little more vinyl skill doing the harder parts (bumpers) and the people with less vinyl skill doing the easier sections (roof, doors, quarters). i also know there are some people out there with vinyl hook ups who could possibly help of keeping overall cost of the project down. personally im not ready to wrap my car so i dont want people to think im attempting to set this up to get a cheap wrap job. i just wanted to see if people would be down to help/learn/teach on a such a project. i would like to have more vinyl skill and i think this would be a great way to learn. i would also say it would be nice if the person whose car is being wrapped buys some food/drinks, because that would be a ton cheaper than paying someone atleast $1k in labor to wrap it for you. i dont know, what do you guys think?

i would be down for this. ive been wanting to wrap my car matte white for a while now. i got quoted by a shop for 2400 and that's a little too pricey for me lol

It will need to be vinyl wrap DAYS haha. YOu can get like 50% of the car done in a day well thats the case for me and I had another person helping me haha. And you would be lucky if you can get a car wrapped for 1k. Normally they cost about 3k and upwards.

imprezard just wrapped his car in matte silver, and he did almost his whole car with a 60"x40ft roll. you can pick up a 60"x37ft of 3m 1080 vinyl off ebay for $480 or even double that for under $1000, which i think is much more affordable. if someone had a hook up on descent vinyl it could be less

yea i just said the $1k for labor because it was the cheapest i have ever heard of someone paying for the labor because they provided vinyl but i know average price is way above that. and i think if you had atleast 6 people, you could have the 2 most skilled people doing the bumpers (off the car of course) while 2 other people did the right side and 2 people did the left side. the hard part would be having enough heat guns/hairdryers/ squeegees to keep everyone working at once

I used to wrap cars back in the day, vinyl has improved as have the techniques. It is best to remove parts like the door handles, window trim, bumpers, wing, hood scoop as some other parts before you do the wrap. My friend owns Kind of Wraps and when he and I were talking about wrapping my car he told me lots of parts need to be removed so its done right. I forget the entire list of parts that he said need to be removed but it was more than what i listed. Wrapping a car takes skill even wrapping the roof. If you want it done right don't rush it and take your time at the creases.

A whole car would be unrealistic in one day. Roofs, hoods, trunks, interior pieces can be done in one day.

I spent 4 to 5 hours on Saturdays and Sundays for about 3 weekends wrapping my whole car matte black with the help of 2 other friends. My car was in pieces. Fenders were off, rear over fenders, spoiler, bumpers etc.

ok maybe a whole car is too much for one day but it seems like there are a couple people interested in doing smaller parts like roofs/trunks. maybe we just do a bunch of small projects like that in one day. who would be down for that

I want to wrap my car too!
I think it would take awhile for it to be done properly and would be willing to spend a week or so on it.
So maybe a vinyl wrap day is out of the question.

They say you need 20 yards of vinyl for a whole car, so about $800 just for the wrap. That's not terrible?

$800 for material doesn't sound bad. I think I spent about 180 on mine and its the cheap and hard to use stuff.
