OMG! I hope this never happens to me or anyone I know. The dude was lucky

Oh... and Autoblog is stupidly calling this vid "why you shouldn't follow so close". I don't see how that is relevant. The video'er could have a 2 sec gap and still get hit by the 2x4... even if he was trying to avoid it. There's no way to predict where the 2x4 was going to be shot too simply because the trailer ran over it.

our windshield got hit by a 4X4 when i was about 10... it hit flat on the windshield so it did not penetrate... but still came about 16in into the car.

if it would have hit end first, my mom would have been gone for sure.

Holy ****!

Craziest thing to happen to me was a T-Top from an old Trans Am flew off on the freeway and hit the very top of our windshield... If it would have been a foot lower it would have done some real damage.

I've had a few scary times and you can't always avoid them. Once a piece of wood flew off a logging truck in Oregon but lucky for me hit just right that it didn't break. Another time it was an owl, that one really scared the crap out of me. Both times on the freeway.

The only time I've ridden the crap out of other cars was the road to Hana, because those idiot tourists were turning a 45 minute drive into a 3 hour one (and weren't listening to all the tour literature/talks telling them to get the hell out of the way when someone would catch up to them).
