We rarely agree and we won't here so don't bother. I am not a van of his... period. And in this fight he made 3 very obvious illegal moves. I'd rather have someoen that is honest about their crap talking but honorable in the ring than someone that pretends to be respectful but is actually a POS.
The UFC pampers him. He's a pretty amazing fighter but he's probably my least favorite long term champ in UFC history.

I agree, Uncle Dana definitely has his favorites, and they do get preferential treatment for sure. That's why since Pride folded, I've been hoping for a new promotion to take its place as the UFC's main competition. I hate seeing a monopoly in any business, let alone my beloved MMA.

The UFC has a huge problem right now in that all the long term champs fight extremely passively because they know they will get a decision. It forces the other fighters to go for decisive knock outs or complete domination and with two really good fighters that is difficult.
The result is the aggressive fighter is bound to make a careless mistake (loltrip) and the champ will capitalize on it.
That being said I still think Anderson silva is the better fighter, I'm personally not a fan of sonnens style. We don't need another gsp as a champ. Jon jones and silva are way more fun to watch.

The first round Sonnen did absolutely no damage just like he did very little damage in the last fight in five rounds. I know its MMA but I would wager money that majority of people dont want to watch a guy ground hump for 25 mins. If you full mount a guy and cant do anything with it, you need to take some GNP lessons from Mark Munoz.
The short pulling went both ways and the knee definitely hit him square in the chest.

What? Youd rather have a champ like GSP who just blankets opponents for the win or someone like Sonnen who got caught cheating, ripping off old people and talking ****? No thank you, I dont want to have another champ with pillowfists who relies on takedowns and wins with points.

I'll just assume you've never been put on your back and punched in the face before. And I'm pretty sure you've never put a fresh BJJ black belt on their back either.
OH... and I'm a fan of Munoz. The dude is an animal when he's on top. Very few people have that kind of short range power... not something you can teach.

Oh... and I think that rule needs to be done away with. Either go pride and let people do whatever the hell they want or just say that kneeing a downed opponent is illegal. This discussion has happened to many times for too many fights.
I'm sorry but you take a knee in the "shoulder" that also hit you in the jaw it's still hitting you in the jaw and it's still dangerous as ****. Not sure if you've been kneed in the sternum by someone that knows how to use them but it ****ing hurts. It's plenty to put someone down and it's too easy to miss and do serious damage.
So... either allow knees period or no knees period to a man on his knees.
And I'll disagree with the knee until I go blue because I'm biased and because I don't like the rule.
I think the dude is an amazing fighter but quite honestly I'm a fan of anyone that's not scared to get in his face. That's the only way you can beat him. He thinks he doesn't need to train to stop that. He's wrong. Most people are too caught up in the hype to just go at him. The ones that do can win... just don't fall down. He's as lethal as anyone when you make a mistake. He's very smart in the ring.
I love seeing him fight someone with *****. It's good for the sport.
They WWE hype on the other hand.... not good for the sport. Dana should be ashamed.

Plus who knows whether Silva or White would've granted Sonnen another match had he not talked all the crap that he did. If anyone was to benefit with a nice payday, it would've been all Chael.

Well either way, this ufc bout brought in good money. Made $6.5 million in ticket sales vs $5.4 million from the 2006 bout with Liddell vs Ortiz as the headlines. Talking crap and hyping up fights definitely help with sales.

They would have. People have been loosing interest in Silva AND GSP. Dana has adopted the WWE over hype crap and the american public buys in to it. I wouldn't say true MMA fans but the bulk of the people watching are newer fans that buy in to that crap.
You could tell by the way Dana was positioned and the look at the camera BEFORE the shoulder shrug that it was planned.... and the fact that Sonnen didn't budge.
The crap talking. The banter. It's all planned. Chael is a crazy dude anyways but he's no dummy.
I'm usually more interested in the undercards these days than the main fights. Most of these main fights Dana and the powers that be are WAY too involved with. Even the Ortiz fight was a joke. I personally think he won that fight. Dana and the judges love the monkey boy so he's gonna win most decisions... even a huge one like this one.
This was the biggest fight the UFC has had in a long time and it was 90% because of Chael. I guarantee you part of the negotiation of him being the goat was that when Silva retires Chael gets an instant shot at the belt if he can keep from loosing between now and then and even then I wouldn't be surprised to see someone get "hurt" and chael step in if it's needed.
The UFC is getting to be a lot like boxing and the WWE mixed together and it's unfortunate.
I'd still rather watch it than boxing any day of the week. LOL.

That's an interesting accusation, but sadly in this day and age it's entirely possible and that's just kinda sad. I like watching the fights for a shot at the title, they usually go the hardest.

That spinning backfist was as planned as Cro Cop's high kicks back in the day -- albeit with WAY different results.

Considering it's Sonnen, whose standup is ATROCIOUS to begin with, and who has a tendency to make boneheaded tactical mistakes when it's clutch time, I'm not so shocked.
