Tuning without AP?

Hi,

I want to get my car tuned for uppipe, and turbo back.
the problem is I don't have $600 to spend on Access port. then spend another $400 on tune.
Are there any tuner that does tuning without AP?

I know EQ tuning does but I am not so sure about road tuning safety.

Thanks for any input.

Shiggy at AHQ does ECUteK tunes for around 1200.. 800 for license and 400 for tune if i recall correctly. You only need to get the license one time.. so every retune after that would be around 400

You can give most of the major tuners aroudn this area a call.. I work at AHQ so their price is the only one i know.. You could also try giving GST and EQ a call.. they are also very good at what they do!

I got my car dyno-tuned in San Jose at EIP Racing he charged me 150 per hour and it took him like 4 hours so I payed 450 out the door, he did an ecu flash so I didn't have to spend anything other than the 450

if you're brave enough... tactrix + romraider.

if you want to leave it to the pros call EQ for a non-AP tune.

also, with the AP you don't HAVE to get a $400 tune. their OTS maps are generally very safe.

i'm quite noob about this. GST mention that I need to correct the code that will come up when i'm swapping WRX uppipe to non-cat STI uppipe. he said this cel issue can be fixed in tuning.

Does AP take care of this also?

road tuning safety is just fine with a road tune... they are 3 gear pulls that dont go over 80mph on farm roads. If you want a tune and don't want to spend $600 on a AP, Ed and eq tuning are the way to go..

+1

I got the road tuning with Ed. It's done in a very remote area in Fairfield where the road is totally flat and straight for miles. I'm sure he won't be risking the safety of his own life for a few hundred bucks...

Their non-AP package sounds like the best option for your needs. Ed's a really cool guy. You should give them a call and just talk to him about it before you make a decision.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for reply, now I got a better idea of this tuning thing...
Good to hear that EQ tuning only pull 3 gear in remote area, that doesn't sound too bad as I first though.
Used AP sounds like good option too, I will look into both options.
