So a new tranny cost $5000 and a rebuild with the STiRA gearset cost $3200?

From your guys experience, are these costs about normal?

Has anyone rebuilt trannies themeselves or is this the kind of thing that requires factory tools/shims and a ton of time?

Actually a rebuilt RA gearset (cyro'd as well) with all new internals including installation is $2600, I think the remaining $600 covers getting the vehicle to us.
