Wow even more info today, Car & Driver just did a First Drive review of the BRZ in this months issue. Why the BRZ and not the sooner to be released FRS? Well because they are going to be the EXACT same car except for bumpers and badges. Same 200hp motor, every one of the body panels.
Highlights from the article:
- Subaru did all the engineering and track testing, Toyota did the styling, whick makes sense since the motor/drivetrain/suspension are all Subaru.
- Production line begins May 2012 at Subaru's build center in Gunma, Japan
-Car will be welded from regular materials such as steel, except for aluminum hood
-Subaru and Toyota will share nearly identical versions, sharing:
Subaru flat four FB20 2.0L 200+ hp engine, using Toyota's D4Sport dual port and direct-injection technology (7500rpm redline)
two Aisin 6-speed transmissions (one manual and a conventional automatic).
one set of body stampings and glass. Only badges, wheels, and small trim items will be different
-Suspension is impreza-derived, with coil-over struts in front and three-link rear suspension.
-Motor will sit 4.7" lower than Impreza's placement and 9.4" inches closer to the center of the car.
-No sunroof.
-Notchback trunk (not a hatchback).
Center of gravity: 17.7 inches high (1" lower than Cayman).
Base sticker expected at $28,000!
Wow, that is a bit steep,

man 28 is too steep. Price point was 20, so unless it has a big brake kit and 250 hp, might have to pass. Pretty extreme let down at this point if she turns out be that costly.

If that article is the truth i've just changed from speculator to hater. For 28k i better see brembos and 250hp weight less than 2800 lbs, otherwise a 100 dollar bill says they are wholesaling em for 8k off msrp within 6 months, similar to 2008 sti's.
I'll leave now to go get that Car and Driver as I'm out of toilet paper. Good night to ya.

but yeah, I catch a wiff of marketing in this article. Since it was in a magazine it means it was written a couple months ago, I think they shot higher so when it comes out they get to say "Look! its lighter AND less expensive then we thought!"
We just found out today that the weight is quite a bit less then their 2800-2900 estimate,
so I'll get out my Specula-tron™ and say its gonna MSRP's for $24,995.
Let come back here in 28 days and and see if Im right!!
