i wonder how different the prices between Subaru and Toyota will be. If Subaru makes the Turbo'd model, and the prices are almost the same, i see Toyota making no sells.

IIRC, it is quite the opposite. In the beginning the cars will basically only be different aesthetically, with the Subaru version being priced ~$6k higher.

How do you know there is a 6k difference? I find that hard to believe, if the one is 6k more my guess is you'll at least get a suspension and brembo package.

My guess is if the subaru is 6k more it's because it comes 1 way with all the goodies offered, where as the scion has a stripper.

"IIRC" means that I'm working off of memory, not concrete fact. I thought there was mention of pricing in this thread, and in some previous articles.

However, look at the two brands. Scion markets to kids, Subaru to family-age adults with careers.

Yeah. I'd just be surprised someone trying to get 6 more grand for an identical car, and while scion is marketed towards younger peeps its still got toyotas reliability rep.

I have heard 2 pricing figures that seemed to be backed up, 26k or less was quoted and also another thing claiming an under 20k model. So I dunno, I really think we will have to wait and see, and even if there really is no turbo or more special model planned right away it very well may come.

I don't understand why we don't get some specially equipped sti's, as even if they were limited it would really drive spirit back into the brand and new buyers. Even if you don't get the type blah blah, you may still be attracted to a base sti or wrx.

Any info on the torque output on the FR-S? I know everything has been saying around 200 horsepower, but I haven't seen any torque stats.

I know the saying though, horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.

well its an NA 2.0 so probably 150 tops? Even the 2.0 S2K only made 153 and that thing had to spin all the way to 7500rpm to get that much torque out of its 8,900rpm redline. And I'd be damn surprised if they get a boxer motor to spin up to anywhere near that high

^ Yeah, I'm thinking something maybe 160, at most, somewhere close to the top motor's rev range. I'm optimistically guessing the motor will have a 7500rpm redline.

Hey, no torque number. However almost every article on the motor describing it, has said it built with torque being a major goal.

its the new subaru timing chain NA motor going in it. I am not aware of them making an all new motor just after the timing chain motor came out.

Are you talking about the new motor going into the 2012 Impreza? I'm assuming the FT86 motor is a modified version of the new Impreza motor.

How much more do you think you can pull out of an NA? more than 10%?
