screw riding up. We used to shuttle up. Climb at Rock City, then ride down. Used to do it on my bmx all the time. Got a couple of speeding citations. I road it once with no brakes..haaa. you could say I had mental problems..used my foot. Had knee pads. Nearly flew off the mountain. Cop got me going over 50 in a 25 more than once..haaa. now they are much much more strict coming down they will give you a speeding ticket.

in the early 90's they would just look at me like I was a retard with a death wish. I think maybe they were not to far off....haaaaa.

miss those rides. We'd have a car follow us down so we'd have more light. Some how none of us died...go figure.

I don't do well riding up things. I never did. Not even when I was racing. No up for me. I could do short distances but i'd ride middle ring and just pump the whole way up to get it out of the way. haaa.

my road bike needs some massive TLC.

I love riding UP Mt. Hamilton. I've done it better than 100 times over the last 20 years. The part that sucks is going back down. Potholes, sand, rocks. I once had a blowout near the bottom at about 40mph. Needless to say I got hurt. Spandex is no match for pavement.

BTW, Mt. Hamilton is about 5-7% grade (although it has two downhill sections.) If you want to feel the pain, try riding up Quimby road to Mt. Hamilton road. Ouch.

Ya, that was crazy, people everywhere on that neat road... (Reminded me of some sort of initial-d mountain pass) I was fearing that lance or someone else would get fubared by a fan!
