Thumbs Up to Gruppe-s my 300+ whp motor

Thanks to gruppe-s for all their help ::two thumbs up::

290 wtq, 320 whp on CA-91

This is a very low reading dyno. Stock WRX comes in at 155 whp. Generally reads 13% lower than a corrected Mustang dyno and 16% lower than a dynojet.

I’m disappointed in the 91 numbers, the tune is at 20 psi and timing starts at 9 degrees advance then slowly increases to a max of 29 degrees.

I also don't like the fact that the intake is inside the engine bay - it's going to be breathing hot air when I'm at a standstill or heavy traffic - need to get it into the fenderwell or in front of the car.

The tune is very conservative on 91, I mean very – Mike is concerned that my topmount will heatsoak with anymore so he left it like that. He told me to get an FMIC and he’ll turn it up, but with my current TMIC, he just can’t.

The turbo is capable of more, maybe much more, Mike says it feels very strong and he thinks I’ll be very satisfied on race gas.

The car pulls the whole way to redline, it is the most drivable it has ever been, very smooth.

There is no detectable lag while driving except when you go WOT. Below 3000 rpms the car drives like a normal 2.5 liter sedan, it’s responsive and no need for turbo boost.

There is no place where the torque grabs you and shoves you into the seat, it is just a constant pressure all the way to redline – very similar to a NA car, in fact I didn’t know a turbo car could drive like this – smooth, no jerkiness and still be fast.

This is by far the most streetable setup I have ever driven in anyones car making more than 300 whp on the gruppe-s dyno.

Setup:

’03 WRX wagon – no AVCS
FP Green with Red (3") housing - it really does have more reach than a traditional green.
Gruppe-s built 2.55 liter motor
Weisco forged pistons and rings
ARP headstuds
Crower Rods
Jun Valvetrain
Jun 264 cams
Headwork and 5 way valve job
TGV Deletes
gruppe-s headers
Perrin big MAF
Perrin hoses
Perrin fuel rails
Hyperflow TMIC
Fluidyne race radiator
Full 3” Borla Hush
Helix flex up pipe
Helix down pipe
Walbro fuel pump
PE 800 injectors
AVCR
Cobb Access port
Protuned by Mike of Gruppe-s on a hot day (92 F) with Shell CA-91

Next: 100 octane map

I will post dynos as soon as I get them digitized.
I should have a couple of 1320 times Saturday.

actually his hit 303 on the gruppe-s dyno, with like 250 ft lbs of torque so 17 more whp, and like 40+ more ft lbs of torque, not to mention whitt probably spools up faster.

Remember 1 thing... driveability > #'s

No lag, I wanted a streetable setup, Why I didn't go with a GT 30 or GT35 kit, it pulls EVERYWHERE.

I also LOVE the sound of the cams

I can't explain this, but it drives well everywhere from a parking lot to street driving to acceleration on a surface street or the freeway, it just jumps up and goes...the feeling is satisfyning....

I have found myself going too fast a couple of times, maybe I need new brakes
