FWIW I have a Thule box (on sale at REI, holds snowboards) which goes on my Yakima racks with no problem.

For yakima racks you need Q towers, Q clips, 48"cross bars (wrx), locks for them so no one steals them. You could also add a fairing if you want. Then add what ever accessories you need for them bikes, snow board, ski, whatever you want.

I have one it helps move wind up and over the rack, but most of all it reduce's noise. It gives that areodynamic look.

On a Yakima, the noise without a fairing when travelling north of 45 mph or so is incredibly loud. I mean, really loud. Unbearable. Seriously.

sorry for the thread jack but are you suppose drill holes into your roof to install the towers or does it just clamp down onto something. i've been thinking of getting set of yakima roof racks, probably i'll get my set up for the next comming winter.

the towers rest on the roof/pillar area near the gutter. there are clips that you screw to the towers. no need for drilling.
