I know there are quite a few of us that live in places that are less than desirable in terms of crime and such, and now you can take concealing to a new level, forget putting your gun under your pillow, risking accidental discharge, etc... Now you can get this!
www.SecurityPillow.com
I would post a picture but their website is flash animated. Now I can add this pillow to my collection of concealment toys, such as books (bible), household items, regular leather briefcases, etc. I have a weird hobby where I collect various containers that I can use for such purposes... every item in my house is some kind of container, lol... if you come over and try to read a book, a gun falls out.
OK, I'm not THAT bad, but I do collect them

i would rather risk accidental discharge than not be able to get my gun out in time to use it for its intended purpose.
i would also rather risk accidental discharge all over your face

While I think the concept of this is cool, I think in actual use, it's a bad idea - especially if you sleep with someone else in the bed. If you're sleeping on the right and your gf/wife/whatever is sleeping on the left, then there is no way to orient the pillow in such a way that would prevent you from pointing the muzzle at your gf/wife/whatever. If you orient the opening of the pillow so that it's facing the right-most edge of the bed, the muzzle would be pointing at your sleeping partner's head the entire time. Sure, firearms rarely, if ever, discharge by themselves. However, who's to say that when you're panicking because you hear an intruder you won't negligently discharge the weapon before it's fully out of the pillow? Are you willing to bet your gf/wife/whatever's life? Are they?
Similarly, if you pointed the pillow so that the muzzle of the weapon is facing away from your gf/wife/whatever, you would still probably point the muzzle at them when drawing the weapon. Again, highly risky. I'm not saying it would be impossible to orient the pillow and draw the weapon so as to avoid pointing the muzzle of the weapon towards your gf/wife/whatever, but I question, when you're heart is about to beat out of your chest because the adrenaline in your system is pumping, whether you will be able to remain composed enough to do so.
I think that just keeping your firearm on the nightstand (with you sleeping closest to the door) allows both quicker and safer access. This is assuming you don't have kids who might come into your room at night, etc. As for choice of firearms, while I think that I would prefer my Glock 34 in a combat situation (as far as handguns go anyways), if I'm awoken suddenly and abruptly in the middle of the night, I might prefer a double-action revolver because I would be less likely to negligently discharge the firearm.
