thinking about buying a 2005 legacy GT??

My parents want to buy a new car and found a Legacy 2005 2.5GT for $12k, Any thoughts on it whether being a good price? It has 92k on the odo on the listing.

Are there any issues that may cause troubles?

Thanks.

Make sure the intercooler hasn't split apart yet.
Driver side "sticky" window switch.
Front LCA bushings.
Rear Sway mounts not torn or broken.
Rear wheel bearings if they have been replaced of not, whining = dealer instantly, recall item till 100k or 8 years.
I think that's about it for issues I've had on mine.
Limited or Non?
MT or AT?

The FIRST thing you need to find out is: was the timing belt/water pump done, because at 90-100K (105K for WRX) it is due and it isn't cheap.

92K high miles on a Subaru? Is that some kind of joke? Maybe some of the newer models with the ring and head gasket issues might be a factor, but not all Subies suffer from those.

Legacy GT is 105k too, I'm due for it NOW. Does it seem previously modded because if so, to know they did it right there should be a tranny breather. The 2.5 in the legacy is 04STi/Forester based No issues with the motors.... Unless it was beat to ****.

He's referring to why would your parents want a LGT instead of a regular Legacy 2.5i, based on gas prices.

And if it matters, Prius owners on average save less than $3k a year than STi owners.

Head over to legacygt dot com, spend some time searching out issues.

You'll find more than you ever want to know about common (and uncommon) problems with the Legacy's.

Also the crank pulleys fall apart and then the ac belt chews through the ac clutch contacts requiring a new compressor.
