west hollywood is the gayest place ever. no pun intended.
go to west hollywood if you like getting mugged.
but seriously man if you like baseball go to a dodgers game even if you hate the dodgers, it's a park everyone should see while it's still what it is. if you go sit in the left field pavilion, but do NOT wear a giants hat. just a warning.. that's east LA's finest, favorite spot.

i will honestly say the beaches up here are far more "naturally" beautiful. but you must have been on bad days or something... huntington beach in august was absolutely nice for a lazy summer day (about 4 ft peelers) newport can be hit or miss but usually hit. laguna is laguna and will always be good if there's any kind of swell hitting it.. and san diego is full of world class surf. but that's kind of out of the areas you can call "LA region"
all in all i have surfed up here and down there many times, and i would take socal any day. there's a reason huntington beach is truly surf city usa.. and it's not cause it's mush.
plus after you get your set in, you can lay on the beach and enjoy hot sand underneath you.. that's a great way to end the session. not to mention if you are in huntington beach, you have the little privately owned stands offering the best "post surf" foods. up here where the hell do you eat after a session? in most spots you have to drive off to find food.. san diego, huntington, newport, etc etc all have stuff along the water... i'm talking not just waves but overall experience of surfing.

some of my favorite places to go was pinks over in hollywood, but be prepared to wait in a line for about 40 mins. thats how long i waited.
i went to hodads over in San Diego (if you go down that far) for burgers. saw this on food network so had to check it out.
and babycakes for cupcakes

Yeah, OC does have that on lock. But, after a few hours, all those girls look the same and you know they have absolutely nothing remotely interesting to say.
Plus, when you see the douche train of guys following them around, you realize what kind of sloppy seconds you're dealing with.

The pansy lifeguards would escalate it quickly, thus ruining any fun.

Check out... 100 Fishermans Wharf in Redondo Beach. Go all the way to the end of the pier and there is a seafood place that serves live lobster and crab. Run by Koreans...they have all the crazy raw seafoods like live anything seafood you can think of. I prefer the steamed crab and lobster though. Plus, you get to use wooden hammers to crack the shell. Quite an experience and a little pricey.
Golfing in SoCal is bomb. If your inland from LA at all, like around Rancho Cucamonga or Corona, I would hit up Empire Lakes, Sierra Lakes, or Eagle Glen.
Go to the beach, plenty of those down there, Newport and anything south of that is pretty chill. Newport, Laguna, or Dana Point.
If your a cheap *** like me, downtown LA has something called Santee Alley in the Fasion District. Basically, the semi-blackmarket for burned DVD's of new movies, fake designer wear, and some hood rat flea market style stuff. $40 would get you far.
Cannibus Clubs, friends with cards. North Hollywood and almost everywhere in LA county has access to the bombest dank...OG Kush, Chemdawg, Headband, PK. Stuff that Norcal just ships down there because it will go for greater than 65/eighter.
Tons of colleges to crash if you know people.
I dont have a crazy night life, not really into Sunset Blvd for club hoppin etc, but its an option.
On your way down, if you hit up 101, downtown Santa Barbara is pretty tight, I think its State Street. 30 mins Inland of Ventura is Ojai Valley. Ojai Valley Inn is a top-tier golf course and has the number one Spa in the US.
I can go on forever but I think you got plenty to think about.

will say this tho.....sigma is right.....eses+drunken vatos in Dodger Stadium bleachers DON'T play! tons of war stories (not mine), but one of the PG ones.....some dude reppin Dodger Blue saw a car in lot w/Angels bumper sticker. dude carved a FAT "LA" sign across the ENTIRE HOOD! grimey, but WOW!!
::
that said, last time I hit Chavez Ravine for LA vs SF game, me+my boy (another Bay transplant) rolled in w/SF fitteds+my day-glo orange Dunk lows. we sat in the cheapies too to get some sun....got the biz, but everything was copacetic overall. Things got "a lil" more interesting after game let out, & we were taking pics flipping off+kicking the Dodgers Hummer by the main gates! ("fortunately," Giants lost, or else it prolly woulda been ugly. already had LA soccer Moms booing tho! lol)
