Exclamation Are there any capable shops that can help me with my windshield wiper motors?

I'm tired of calling shops and leaving messages with no return call even though I say its urgent...

My wife is driving around in the RS with no windshield wipers all thanks to the wiper motor on the drivers side giving up and dying.

Are there any shops that can help me? If you're reading this and think you can, please respond! I don't care how much it costs, it needs to be fixed before the next rainstorm! This is her only means of transportation and I'm tired of playing games with shops that wont help me.

I'm not an expert, but it looks like the motor/gears for the wiper need to be replaced... Only the driver side is affected which makes me think its a gear issue, just like a window mechanism. I could be wrong though, you guys are the experts.

Please help!

(I'm not having the best luck with subies as you can tell).

PS: I'm bringing my STi back to the dealer and making them fix the I/C thing since it is way more expensive then we first thought

I'm glad you are taking the STI back. They should have no problems swapping it out. Tell them to do it or take their car back and you'll buy an evo.

As for your windshield wipers. Fix them yourself. I bet you can get the parts off a wrecked L or RS in a yard and swap em' out.

There's an O.G. subaru shop in Santa Cruz. It's called Rick's. 831.475.2470. Good guys good prices. I'm sure they can help you out.

Wiper motor runs for about $80 at Kragen. But I don't know if a motor, could just be a stuck gear. Have you tried removing it?

Well, I bought the car knowing about the intercooler... They knew and took off like $200 from the already kick *** price I had gotten (thousands less for a equivalent car in terms of miles, shape, year)... This car was FLAWLESS, no dings, smelled like a new car still, no stains, nothing! All that was weird was the intercooler, and like I mentioned before, I figured I could get used parts and do it myself for about $200... Joke is on me though... Just used parts alone its like $600... New parts are well over a G.

I printed out the retail prices of each part which is going to run well above a grand and make them compensate me for that and my troubles.

What sucks is that I had to sign (you have to sign this when you buy a used car) that I was buying the car used, and as is... However, they claimed the car was clean and in perfect shape/working order, but thats not exactly true since the cars intercooler falls off the throttle body sometimes at WOT causing a HUGE boost leak and kills the car until I put it back on... I know thats not a big deal but I'm going to act like its some HUGE deal that could blow my engine, etc... They don't know squat about cars... So little that its kind of sad, so I can lie to them about anything.

I'll also add the "referring my friend to your dealer" card since we talked about a GTi that he had on the lot and how my friend was interested (which he isn't).

So yeah, wish me luck mates!

Regarding the wipers... How do you take it apart? Thats def something I've never even thought about fixing so I have NO clue as to what I would be doing and I'd probably just make something else break knowing my luck!
